A Palestinian State?

by Ron Paul

Congressman Ron Paul

The Palestinian Authority’s recent announcement that it would seek UN recognition as an independent state dominated the news and the political debate in the United States last week, though in truth it should mean very little to us. Only a political class harboring the illusion it can run the world obsesses over the aspirations of a tiny population on a tiny piece of land thousands of miles away. Remember, the UN initiated this persistent conflict with its 1947 Partition Plan.

Unfortunately the debate is dominated by those who either support the Israeli side in the conflict, or those who support the Palestinian desire for statehood. We rarely seem to hear the view of those who support the US side and US interests. I am on that side. I believe that we can no longer police the world. We can no longer bribe the Israelis and Palestinians to continue an endless “peace process” that goes nowhere. It is not in our interest to hector the Palestinians or the Israelis, or to “export” democracy to the region but reject it when people vote the “wrong” way.

Was Iranian assassination plot, an inside job?

Manssor Arbabsir, alleged Iranian mastermind

Manssor Arbabsir, alleged Iranian mastermind

By John Blythe

There are some lingering questions that have come up ever since the alleged plot unfolded on Tuesday about an Iranian American citizen with ties to Iran’s government, planned to conspire with a Mexican drug cartel to assassinate a Saudi Ambassador and blow up an Israeli embassy in Washington.

The accused mastermind behind the plot, Manssor Arbabsir, was charged by the U.S. Justice Department for conspiracy to commit a terrorist attack on American soil. Manssor’s friends however, have a completely different viewpoint on this. Manssor was a used car salesman in Texas and his friends and associates say this was a man who could barely afford to pay his bills or keep his auto records straight, let along pull off a major terrorist attack.

In another interesting twist, the plot was released to the news media on the same day that Congressman Darrell Issa, the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee stated that he would subpoena documents relating to Attorney General Eric Holder’s role in “Operation Fast and Furious”, which led to the ATF’s sale of more than 2,000 weapons to Mexican drug cartels.

Perhaps the same Mexican drug cartels that were planning on helping Manssor assassinate the Saudi Ambassador?

Bringing the End The Fed message to OccupyLA

By Jason Mahakian

FrontierlandPost.com

October 8, 2011

No more than 15 people along with myself from the EndTheFed Group of Los Angeles held a Protest at the Federal Reserve Branch in Los Angeles On Saturday, October 8.  I’m happy to report that there were two members of Oathkeepers with us as well.  We held our picket signs there for about an hour and a half, under the watch of private security guards, no LAPD here.  What I first noticed was that there was no signage on the building save an engraved brass door handle, obviously wanting to draw little attention to itself.   On the sidewalk, the organizer with a bullhorn led the rest of us with raised voices proclaiming various facts pertaining to The Fed, receiving support from cars that honked as they passed by.

Will Palestine become the newest member of the United Nations?

Israel-Palestine map

Israel-Palestine map

By John Blythe

What is becoming one of the most controversial items to hit world politics is Palestine’s desire to become the newest member state added to the United Nations.

Since 1974, Palestine has held observer status at the United Nations, but has not had voting rights or recognition as a state, because of the long standing conflict with Israel.

For years, this conflict has been the topic of world discussion. Israel had occupation in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and parts of Northern Lebanon as well. When the Israelis abandoned the land, Israel became the target of Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists. The Gaza Strip and the West Bank have been considered Palestinian territories despite its association with Hamas. Additionally, Palestine has argued that Jerusalem is their capital city, even though it rightfully belongs to Israel.

Earlier this year, President Obama received overwhelming criticism when he supported a plan for Israel and Palestine to return to the pre-1967 borders and there was some hint by the President and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice that by this time, this year, Palestine would be accepted and welcomed as the newest member of the United Nations.

As the session of the U.N. General Assembly opened this week in New York, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is pressing forward to obtain statehood, even though it requires formal approval by the U.N. Security Council and a two-thirds majority of the U.N. General Assembly.

In June, the U.S. Congress, both the House and the Senate, passed resolutions calling for President Obama to not support Palestine’s recognition and threatened to suspend some $500 million that the U.S. gives in financial aid to Palestine as well as stopping U.S. funds to the U.N. General Assembly.

Well, they probably should have cut off those funds a long time ago.

The Senate noted it would only recognize Palestine if peace and stability with Israel could be reached and if Palestine ceased its long association with Hamas, which is designated as a terrorist organization and for years now, has been responsible for launching rockets into Israeli kindergarten classrooms, buses and apartment buildings.

Meanwhile, President Abbas is trying to muster support from U.N. members, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been trying to open up more of a dialogue with Abbas adding “we do not want a piece of paper, we want real peace, peace on the ground, peace with security arrangements, peace that will last and not fray before it is signed.”

It is expected that on Friday, Abbas will speak at the U.N. General Assembly and formally submit its membership application to Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon who will then submit it to the Security Council for review.

After that, we’ll see if the U.N. confirms or denies Palestine’s membership request.

Tension in the Middle East is rising

By John Blythe

The tension throughout the Middle East has been rising recently at the height of the so-called “peaceful” Arab Spring protests which has called for the toppling of governments in nations throughout the region.

In Libya, the rebels were able to take over control of the city of Tripoli last month and the National Transition Council has been able to move into forming a new government and effectively ousting long time leader Moammar Gaddafi. Gaddafi however is vowing to continue battling the civil war to the end. Earlier this week, Hamas terrorists wanted to meet with top leaders of the Libyan National Transition Council to discuss diplomatic relations. Isn’t that great? Didn’t I predict this in a recent blog?

In Syria, the country that acts as a catalyst for Iran and Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon, has been showing more bloodshed. President Bashar al-Assad is showing no signs of stepping down anytime soon and is apparently welcoming possible war from neighboring countries, while his military continues to kill his people on the streets.

In Egypt, ever since the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak, the country has been taken over by the radical Muslim Brotherhood, burning down Christian churches, unleashing Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip and renewed its diplomatic relations with Iran for the first time in thirty years. For the last few months, the “new” Egypt has been calling for an end to the peace treaty with Israel. A few weeks ago, Egyptian protesters stood outside the Israeli Embassy in Cairo shouting “the gas chambers are ready” and holding Swastika signs. So what happened this week? The same protesters stormed the Israeli Embassy and nearly tore it down. The situation was apparently so violent, Israeli diplomats had to be evacuated and the Israeli Ambassador had to flee the country.

In Iran, the government led by the Hitler of our generation, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, formally launched its plans on the Bushehr nuclear power plant, regardless of U.S. imposed economic sanctions and defying IAEA inspections. Iran has been insinuating for years that its sole purpose of nuclear power has been for the need to enhance energy in Iran. Of course anyone with half of an IQ knows that the nuclear program is designed to form nuclear weapons against Israel, something that President Ahmadinejad has been outspoken about for quite some time. Meanwhile, President Obama doesn’t seem to be bothered by Iran’s nuclear capabilities. He says that once the Arab Spring is over, at that point he may consider moving forward on relations with Iran and vigorously addressing its nuclear program. That’s of course if Iran doesn’t manage to blow up half the world by then.

And finally today in Afghanistan, the Taliban targeted the U.S. Embassy and NATO Headquarters in Kabal. The Taliban, which supports and harbors safe haven for al-Qaeda terrorists, planned the attack only a day after the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

These series of events in an increasingly destabilized and dangerous region of the world is continuing to escalate and is igniting protests in other countries. In London, a mass group of Muslims shouted “we hate America” and burned an American flag.

This goes to show you how bad things really are right now in the Middle East. I hope nobody in the Obama Administration is surprised by the turn of events in that region, because after all, President Obama pushed for and endorsed these series of events to take place.

Libyan weapons "mysteriously" disappear

By John Blythe

Well it looks like the NATO bombing of Libya has worked out wonderfully hasn’t it?

Come to find out, a handful of former Libyan Leader Moammar Gaddafi’s arsenal of weapons have apparently gone missing. Among the weapons that have disappeared include ammunition and even missiles and they’re not even sure exactly how many of these missiles have vanished. The so called “rebels” that the United States and NATO has aligned itself with, has been in communication with the Libyan National Transition Council that they had seized some of the various weapons to fight against pro Gaddafi military forces in the six months of the country’s civil war. However the NTC failed to secure all of the weapons.

Now, the Pentagon says the unaccounted weapons may have fallen into the wrong hands.

They must be kidding?

At the beginning of the Libyan War, Moammar Gaddafi had made comments suggesting that some of the rebels may have been affiliated with al-Qaeda. As usual, this was completely ignored by the U.S. State Department, just as they had ignored similar warnings in 1999 during the Kosovo conflict, instead choosing an alliance with a group of thugs that we really knew nothing about.

If indeed the weapons are in the wrong hands, the assumption has been that al-Qaeda operatives could have seized them, or perhaps other terrorists groups including Hamas, with the support of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, could have gone into Libya, pretending to be rebels, and therefore seizing the weapons which can be used for their own advantage.

As we already know, Hamas and Hezbollah use missile strikes against Israel. I find it very interesting that the Obama Administration is so determined to destabilize the Middle East, so all of the governments can work against Israel which is exactly what is going in the region. Like Egypt, Libya is falling to the Muslim Brotherhood and the idiots in the United Nations, along with NATO and the U.S. State Department, stand around with this absurd view that we’re all helping those innocent rebels and civilians, and to the extent, this is very true. However the operation has become so mismanaged that we cannot even figure out if the rebels themselves are legitimate or if they have other tricks up their sleeve.

Unfortunately, it is looking like the latter is becoming the reality.

UN holding Durban III conference in New York

By John Blythe

The United Nations and the Human Rights Council will be holding an absolutely reprehensible conference known as Durban III on September 21st in New York City.

The Durban Conference was first held in Durban, South Africa in 2001 for the sole purpose of addressing racism, discrimination and intolerance among nations. However, in the last ten years, Durban has moved toward the direction of identifying the United States’ ally, Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, as a nation that harbors deep seeded racism in the form of Zionism.

This is absolutely disgusting.

The website, Durban3NYC.com, which is an opposition organization to Durban, has been calling on people all across the world to boycott this conference next month in New York, and at the present time, several countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy and the Czech Republic are already planning on condemning the actions of the participants in the conference.

According to research completed by Durban3NYC.com, they found that 40% of the UN Human Rights Council resolutions were against Israel, and as the website points out, you would think that such human rights violations would be directed at more severely repressed nations that violate human rights every single day… maybe, North Korea, Myanmar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, maybe Belarus.

Apparently not.

The UNHRC continues to condemn the actions of a democratic and free country like Israel.

Because of these actions, it is easy to understand why the international community continues to perceive Israel as the root of all of the world’s growing problems. Furthermore, looking into the condemnations by the UNHRC against Israel, you can also understand the enormous double standard.

The website identifies Israel as being responsible for 46,000 deaths, including casualties of war, with 223 condemnations. Comparatively speaking, looking at the other list of countries:

Nigeria has had 1 million deaths, with 0 (yes ZERO) condemnations;

North Korea has had 2 million deaths, with 10 condemnations;

Sudan had 2.2 million deaths with 45 condemnations;

Cambodia, including the time of the Khmer Rouge holocaust, had 3 million deaths with 14 condemnations.

And finally, China, if you include the reign of terror under Chairman Mao, there were tens of millions of deaths, with ZERO condemnations.

Simply unbelievable

The hostility against Israel inside the United Nations became a major issue when in 1975, Cuba was continuing to try and undermine the United States with the support of the Soviet Union. While Cuba aligned itself with other Communist countries within the UN Assembly, at the same time, several Arab nations were trying to find ways to discredit Israel. As a result, the Communists and the Arab-Islamic Fascists joined together to create an unstoppable voting force inside the United Nations, passing resolutions against Israel, therefore in the process continuing to undermine the United States.

This little group of Communists and Islamic Fascists, were the ones that redefined Zionism as a form of racism, as per UN General Assembly Resolution 3379, which was adopted in 1975 by all of the Arab countries in the Middle East and passed overwhelmingly. It was eventually revoked in 1991.

Kind of strange when you consider that Zionism was a movement trying to protect the Jews from racism.

Unfortunately, UNHRC resolutions against Israel have easily passed through the United Nations, as the Durban conferences on so called “racism” have continued to spread through enormous influence worldwide, identifying Zionism as the cause of the world’s problems. In fact, the Hitler of our generation, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who spoke at the Durban conference in Geneva in 2009, continues to insist that the Nazi Holocaust never took place and that Israel should be wiped off the map.

Apparently, if you are a genocidal maniac with the sole objective to destroying an entire ethic group, this enables you to make decisions concerning human rights matters in the United Nations.

This is absolutely despicable. And now with Egypt in a horrible state of affairs, those so-called peaceful protesters, have called upon the end to Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel and they’re out on the streets holding signs of Nazi swastikas and chanting “get the gas chambers ready.”

I would encourage anybody, reading this edition of Independent Word, to go to the Durban3NYC.com website and sign their petition to get the United Nations’ attention to try and boycott this event in New York City on September 21st.

Why is history repeating itself? Part I

by John Blythe

John Blythe

I couldn’t believe what kind of propaganda I saw the other day. A new gospel song titled “Freedom for Palestine” from a group known as One World is being promoted by the popular rock band Coldplay, and spreading throughout the internet basically implying that Israel’s occupation in the Middle East is illegal and promotes violence and segregation.

Total garbage!

Since President Obama’s insensitive speech against Israel a few weeks ago when he stated that both Israel and Palestine should return to 1967 era borders, there seems to be a great deal of resentment against the Jewish state. This type of resentment is what started Adolf Hitler’s reign in Nazi Germany.

I’m a little confused because it was my understanding that a majority of people on the far-left spectrum believe that human rights must be promoted and everything must be done to stop genocide. Anyone who knows anything about history may remember that British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain never believed Hitler’s actions for a moment. Europe couldn’t believe it. But Hitler went ahead and ordered the extermination of more than 6 million Jewish people. After the Holocaust, we all said “never again” to something so evil and despicable.
